2017 MANINGNING POETRY COMPETITION EXTENDED TO APRIL 30, 2017
Submission of entries to the 2017 Maningning Miclat Trilingual Poetry Competition has been extended to April 30, 2017. Maningning Miclat was a poet of three languages, prize-winning artist, published essayist, and translator/interpreter. She was a teacher who could, despite the voguish American saying, “those who can’t, teach.” She passed on at age 28 in 2000.
2017 MANINGNING MICLAT POETRY AWARDS
The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, Inc. (MMAFI), in cooperation with the Art Circle Gallery, is calling on young artists below 28 years old to submit their entries to the 2017 Maningning Art Competition. 2. There are three divisions in the awards: a) Filipino; b) English; c) Chinese.8. All entries should be submitted in four (4) copies, double spaced on 8 ½ x 11 inches bond paper with one inch margin on all sides and the page number typed consecutively, e.g., 1 of 10, 2 of 10, and so on, together with an electronic copy (CD or USB) of the poems.
2016 MANINGNING MICLAT ART COMPETITION TO ACCEPT ENTRIES
The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, Inc. (MMAFI), in cooperation with the Art Circle Gallery, is calling on young artists below 28 years old to submit their entries to the 2016 Maningning Art Competition. The theme for this year is ‘Mother and Child’ and may be done in oil, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic, brush and ink, or mixed media in Western or Oriental style. Entries must be framed. The minimum size is 45 cm x 60 cm (18 in x 24 in), and the maximum size is 60 cm x 90 cm (24 in x 36 in).
2015 MANINGNING MICLAT POETRY COMPETITION IS NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES
It has been 15 years since China-born Maningning Miclat, a poet of three languages, prize-winning visual artist, published book author, teacher and interpreter, passed on.Miclat, according to Julie Lluch, eminent sculptor and member of the board of trustees of the Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, Inc. (MMAFI), is "lithe, slim, graceful, Pinay na Pinay, yet very Asian."
2014 MANINGNING MICLAT ART TILT TO ACCEPT ENTRIES
The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, Inc. (MMAFI), in association with The Art Circle Gallery and Erehwon Center for the Arts, will accept entries to the 2014 Maningning Art Competition on Sept. 4, gallery hours, at The Art Circle Gallery, 4th Level, Shangri-La Plaza, Edsa cor. Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong.

The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, Inc. (MMAFI) in cooperation with the Liongoren Gallery and Sining Kamalig is calling on young artists aged 28 and below to enter their masterpiece to the 2012 Maningning Miclat Painting Competition. The art competition this year has a theme : â€œThe Nation in my Mind/Ang Pangarap kong Bayan.â€ The artist can submit a representational or non-representational painting based on this theme.

Founded in 2001, the Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, Inc. (MMAFI) has been organizing activities aimed at encouraging creativity and recognizing, awarding, and nurturing outstanding and talented young poets and artists 28 years old and below, the same age when Maningning passed on. During odd numbered years, poetry competition in Filipino, English and Chinese is held and during even numbered years, painting competition, two fields in the arts where Maningning excelled.

Mario I. Miclatâ€™s book, Secrets of the Eighteen Mansions (Anvil Publishing, 2010), longlisted at the 2009 Man Asian Literary Prize, will be launched during the 2010 Maningning Miclat Art Awards to be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 6:00 p.m. at the 3rd Level Exhibit Area, Shangri-La Edsa Plaza Mall.
The Maningning Miclat Awards, on its 8th year, will proclaim the winners of the Maningning Painting Competition for artists age 28 below with the grand winner receiving PhP28,000.00 and a Julie Lluch sculpture trophy.

It was an evening to remember. Mikael de Lara Co, Kristian Sendon Cordero and Chen Liang were proclaimed winners in the English, Filipino and Chinese categories of the 2009 Maningning Miclat Poetry Awards held at UP Abelardo Hall on September 24. Held together with the awarding was a shimmering and nostalgia-filled concert of well-loved Filipino classics by the Mabuhay Singers and Banaue Miclat.

China-born Banaue Miclat will perform in a concert entitled â€œMabuhay! Banaue at Abelardoâ€ after finishing Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. The concert will be held in conjunction with the 2009 Maningning Miclat Poetry Awards on September 24 at the Abelardo Hall, U.P. Diliman.
In the concert, elder and younger generations of Filipino singers will be represented by the Mabuhay Singers and Banaue.

The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation, in cooperation with the Art Circle Gallery and Shangri-la Plaza, will toast the winners of the 2008 Maningning Miclat Art Competition in an evening of arts, poetry and music on September 24, 2008 at the Art Plaza of the Shangri-la Plaza Mall.
The grand prize winner shall receive an exquisite glass sculpture trophy by world renowned artist, Ramon Orlina, plus PhP28,000.00 cash and a special collectorâ€™s edition of â€œBeyond the Great Wall: A Family Journalâ€ by Mario, Alma, Maningning and Banaue Miclat. The book was awarded the National Book Award for Biography last year by the Manila Criticsâ€™ Circle in cooperation with the National Book Development Board.
Thirty eight paintings shall compete for the award. They have been chosen for exhibit/sale at Shangri-La Plaza Mall from September 19 to 30 out of more than 80 entries coming from around 20 universities, colleges and schools.

The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation is calling on young artists aged 28 and below to prepare their masterpiece for entry to the 2008 Maningning Miclat Painting Competition. Awarding is scheduled to be held on September 24 this year at the Shangri-La Edsa Plaza.The grand prize for this open art competition consists of a Ramon Orlina glass sculpture trophy and a PhP 28.000.00 cash. Shortlisted entries will be exhibited from September 17 to 30.
Entries may be submitted on September 13-15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. â€“ 8:00 p.m. at the Art Circle Gallery, Shangri-La Edsa Mall. The painting entries may be done in oil, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic, brush and ink, or mixed media in Western or Oriental style. Three-dimensional works are allowed, provided the final product is wall-bound. No specific theme is required. Entries must be original and executed in 2007-2008. Entries must be framed with the minimum size of 45 cm x 60 cm and maximum size of 120 cm x 180 cm or equivalent area without the frame.

Three young poets, two Filipinos and a Chinese, were proclaimed winners of the 2007 Maningning Miclat Trilingual Poetry Awards by 2 National Artists for Literature, Virgilio Almario and Bienvenido Lumbera in an evening of poetry and music held at Philamlife Theater on September 26. The event which featured the singing prowess of the beautiful and accomplished singer-composers Cynthia Alexander, Susan Fernandez and Girl Valencia earned accolades for the seamless and outstanding direction by thespian Joel Saracho and his assistant, Geraldine Villamil..
Chen Siyuan of Guangdong, China, Erica Clariz delos Reyes of Ateneo de Manila University, and Raymond John de Borja of the University of the Philippines won in the Chinese, Filipino and English language categories of the 2007 Maningning Miclat Poetry Awards.

Nine finalists in the 2007 Maningning Miclat Poetry Competition in Filipino, English and Chinese have been named and will vie for the grand prize to be awarded during the poetry awards and musical concert to be held at the Philamlife Theater, UN Avenue on Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at 7:00 P.M.
The finalists in the English division of the competition are Mark Anthony Cayanan, Raymond John A. de Borja, and Joy Anne Icayan; in the Filipino division are Mark Anthony Sy Angeles, Carlos M. Piocos III, and Erica Clariz C. de los Reyes. All 3 finalists, Chen Si Yuan, Chen Wei and Zhang Hui Chao, in the Chinese division of the competition came from Guangdong province which sent the most number of entries. Other entries were received from the Chinese capital, Beijing, as well as from the provinces of Shanxi, Gansu, Fujian and Chejiang. Entries were also received from Vietnam and the Philippines.
